FAQ: Mushroom Sacrament Grow Kits
Getting Started
Are these mushrooms for cooking or eating like culinary mushrooms?
No — our focus is on sacred mushrooms traditionally used for personal ceremony, reflection, and consciousness exploration. These are not intended for culinary use.
What kind of mushrooms does this site focus on?
We center our education around entheogenic, mind-expanding mushrooms often referred to as “magic mushrooms.” These are distinct from the mushrooms you'd find at a grocery store or in recipes.
Are TDAM kits legal to purchase?
Psilocybin spores themselves are not a controlled substance under the federal Controlled Substances Act (CSA), and are legal to sell and purchase.
Under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), sincere and safe spiritual use of psychedelic sacraments are protected if they are central to an individuals sincerely-held religious or spiritual beliefs.
For more detailed information on legal protections and examples, visit The Divine Assembly’s page on religious freedom.
What Comes Incuded In My Grow Kit?
Your Kit includes Golden Teacher Spores, a Sterilized Grain Bag, a Bag of Substrate, 3 Pairs of Gloves, Detailed Instructions, and a Spray Bottle.
Inoculation & Colonization
Do I Need to Buy Spores?
Our Kits include a Golden Teacher Spores Syringe to Get You Started.
Can I store my kit before starting?
We Recommending Starting your Kit Immediately! (It only takes 2 minutes to inoculate.) Your Kit can be stored in a Cool, Dry Space for up to 7 Days before Inoculation without voiding our guarantee.
How do I inoculate my kit?
1st) Sterilizing the soft, thicker “belly button” sticker in the center of your grow bag with an included alcohol wipe.
2nd) Attach the needle to the spore syringe provided.
3rd) Inject Full Syringe into the bag without puncturing the other side.
What temperature should it be during colonization?
Most mushroom strains prefer 70-75°F (21-24°C). Too cold, and colonization will slow; too hot, and you risk contamination.
What does healthy mycelium look like?
It should be bright white and fluffy. If you see green, black, or foul-smelling patches, your kit may be contaminated.
How long does colonization take?
Depending on environmental factors, colonization typically takes between 3-6 weeks. Warmer temperatures (70-75°F) help speed up the process.
Fruiting & Growing Mushrooms
How do I start the fruiting process?
Remove the Lid and set the Second Tub (no holes) upside down on the top of your colonized substrate tub.
Provide indirect light (a well-lit room or indirect sunlight works best).
Maintain temperatures around 65-75°F.
Introduce fresh air by fanning it once or twice daily.
Remember to mist with water anytime you fan your kit
How long until I see mushrooms?
After introducing fruiting conditions, pins (tiny baby mushrooms) usually appear within 7-14 days, and full-sized mushrooms are ready within 5-10 days after that.
When is my kit ready to fruit?
Once the substrate is fully covered in white mycelium (no bare patches), it's time to introduce fruiting conditions.
Do I need a humidifier or special equipment?
Not necessarily! A spray bottle to mist the sides of the grow area and some airflow should be enough for most kits. We will be restocking our kits with hygrometers and thermometers soon!
Harvesting & Storage
When should I harvest my mushrooms?
The best time to harvest is when the caps begin to flatten but haven’t fully opened.
How do I harvest mushrooms?
Gently twist and pull the mushroom at the base or cut with a sharp knife. Be sure to sterilize any equipment that comes in contact with the mushrooms.
How many harvests (flushes) will I get?
Most kits produce 2-4 flushes. After the first harvest, continue misting and maintaining humidity, and another flush should appear in 1-2 weeks.
Can I dry my mushrooms?
Yes! Use a dehydrator, dehydrate in your oven or place them in front of a fan, follow up by storing with a food safe silica gel packet or another drying method for long-term storage.
Shipping & Expectations
How long does shipping take?
Most orders ship within 1-3 business days and arrive within 5-7 business days, depending on your location. We ship orders on Mondays and Thursdays
Can I track my order?
Yes! You’ll receive a tracking number once your kit ships.
Can I reuse my kit after harvesting?

What if my kit arrives damaged?
Contact us immediately with photos, and we’ll replace it.
Troubleshooting & Additional Support
How soon will I get mushrooms after receiving my kit?
From inoculation to harvest, expect 4-8 weeks for your first yield, depending on strain and environmental factors
What if I suspect contamination?
If you see green, black, orange, or foul-smelling mold, stop using the kit immediately to prevent further spread. HOWEVER- Black powdery dust after the mushrooms have fruited, may be spores that have dropped, send us a picture if you’re unsure and we’ll let you know!

What if my mycelium isn’t growing?
Check your temperature and humidity levels. If conditions are ideal but no growth appears after 3-4 weeks, your spores may not have been viable. Submit a customer support form and we’ll get you taken care of!
Why aren’t my mushrooms growing?
Check:
Humidity: If it's too dry, mushrooms won’t develop.
Airflow: Too much CO₂ can cause long, skinny mushrooms.
Light: Indirect or soft light is necessary for proper fruiting.
